Crappy Happenings

I recall that Yoz mentioned that i was the crappy member in the original grouping of zw, weili, dan and I. Well, i am feeling exceptionally happy today so I shall regale you with two true happenings that sort of cement any doubts that others and to a certain extent, myself might have on my crapability.

I would like to stress that all of the incidents described are genuine and my account of these incidents remain true to my memory.

Incident 1

This took place when i was just 15 during Secondary 3. Weili, Zhiwei and I were classmates then in class 3E2. Miss Joe Marie was then taking us for a lesson on Chemistry and we were covering the area of Chemical Energetics.

I still vividly recall that we had just been taught the terms of endothermic and exothermic. Ask and any good-natured Secondary 3 student would be able to rattle offhand that an endothermic reaction is one reaction whose enthalpy change was positive and an exothermic one would be one of which the enthalpy change is negative. So if a standard written chemical reaction was presented to an individual, he or she would be able to tell whether it is a exothermic or an endothermic one yada yada.

So we were nearing the end of the lesson on Chemical Energetics and like a responsible teacher, Ms Joe Marie proceeded to grill one poor student on the proper way to suss out
whether an reaction was exothermic or endothermic just on visual observation of a written chemical reaction. The student for some reason, was clueless.

~Half a minute passed~

Impatient apparently, Ms Joe Marie stepped in to defuse the stalemate by launching into a sarcastic outburst. "If you don't look at the sign then what do you look at to find out?"
Before that student could reply, a smart alecky me shot off, "The cosine?"

i believed that that was the first time i cracked a crappy lame joke...

Incident 2

Incident 2 took place around 2 years after Incident 1 in JC1. Yes, we were no longer grouped in small clusters of 30~40 students for lectures. Instead, the whole cohort was now taught by a single lecturer standing a considerable distance away on a stage. Again i was having a Chemistry lesson. [Don't bother to ask me why, i am puzzled myself too...] Mr Jason was guiding us on the subtopic of chemical reactions. To be precise, he was covering Cracking then.

Mr Jason, in a chirpy voice: "Can anyone tell me the possible products that one can obtain from Cracking?"

Chemistry Cohort: ~Deafening Silence~

* Someone sneezed

Me, proudly: "Jokes!"
