:) Oh hi everyone! I am so elated right now. I just went down to check the mail and realised that my ebay item i.e. the keypad membrane for Nokia 6280/6288 was already in. i wasted no time in dismantling the slider and fitted the keypad membrane proper. My pervious suspicion was confirmed via a bright LCD screen smiling back to life. Whoops!
As mentioned some posts ago, despite having no blueprint of the Nokia 6288’s logic circuitry, i suspected that the logic mechanism governing the backlight of the LCD screen was controlled by the keypad membrane. Unfortunately eons ago, when i was mucking around with the phone, i actually blundered and broke the female connector of the original keypad membrane. Oh well, it doesn’t matter now, the thing WORKS NOW! i AM COOL!
AND THE BEST THING WAS THAT PREVIOUSLY THE CAMERA DIDN’T WORK BUT NOW IT DOES. YOU KNOW HOW BIG THAT IS OR NOT? THOSE CHEEBONG NOKIA SERVICE CENTRE PERSONNEL SAY CANNOT REPAIR YOU KNOW?? but i can :)
Mods done thus far,
1.) replaced LCD screen
2.) replaced flex cable
3.) replaced keypad membrane
Total outlay: $14+$1+10= $25 SGD
Well i considered it to be a cheap cost for a fulfilling tutorial and experience. :D
In the works:
Double booting Windows XP Home 32bit and OSX Leopard from MSI Wind U100
P.S. this project would have to wait albeit, reluctantly till the hols because i am patiently awaiting the arrival of a new AC adapter.
