MSI Wind (Part 2)

So i umm ordered a pair of internal speakers from this guy called Babis who resided in Greece. I paid him promptly using Paypal and he shipped the speakers to me as per usual routine.

I checked the tracking number for a good many days and just now yes literally like 1/2 hour ago, the postman came and i signed the package.

Well well well, to think that amid the gloom and doom of the final exams looming around the corner, there is a moment of respite. :D

Oh btw, if you would like some Greek stamps let me know, i would let you have them. :)

This is the actual size of the speakers. I have placed a 20 cent coin just to illustrate how diminutive in size it is.

In order to access the PCB connector for the speakers, i have to first physically remove the mini PCI-E WIFI card. I gingerly nudge the first coaxial cable out of its socket in order to expose the screw securing the WIFI card to the motherboard.

With the WIFI card out of the way, i can see clearly the PCB connector. it is the first one vertically bottom wise. It was abit tricky getting the old PCB connector out since there is virtually little or not grab holds on the male connector. In the end, i cracked it –.- but anyway i got it out of the female socket and inserted the new PCB connector into the female socket.

As a final wrap up, i used some flexi tape to wrap around the individual tweeters so that they fit snugly into the customised enclosures. If you have been following my posts, you will recall that these enclosures are nothing more than high density polyethylene bottle caps which i have liberally sawn to fit them into the atrociously tight compartment in the Wind’s interior.

I filmed the enhanced Wind belting out MJ’s Bilie Jeans. I can feel that the bass and treble has improved and loudness is definitely there. However the audio recording of this video might not have done proper justice to the newly enhanced audio quality.

Thanks for reading :)
