I still remember a very long time ago, i mentioned that there was no point visiting northpoint. The pun was the point. I mean northpoint is a joke, what do you do with an 矮冬瓜 as a mall? Grumble and make grouses about it. Yes.... and so Yishuners put up with the shoebox shopping centre for more than 10 years~~~
Then fast forward to last year i.e. 2008. Northpoint started to undergo expansion cum facelift in phases. I must say this process was very agonising. For one thing, Cold Storage shifted out and with the anchor tenant gone, northpoint became ghostpoint. Except that you might have problems finding ghosts there i think.
It hit me very hard because i loathed getting grocery from NTUC which is perennially stuffed with people. And the aisle is wide enough for radio control kit cars.
Fair Prizeeeeeeeeeeeee!
I must offer my compliments to the team that was involved in the expansion project. It is certainly not as easy as adding more rooms to your pet's house in Pet Society. The most amazing thing was how it felt like northpoint gained acres and acres of shop floor. Corridors seem never ending and the monotony of straight aisles were ridden in favour of concealed bends. It is certainly easier building a large mall outright from the foundation stone up. Therefore you guys are good! And also, the team coordinating the renovating process. Trying to do in stages and yet having to maintain some sort of limited functionality wasn't easy as well.
Well i certainly fancied the idea of coming back every few weeks and spot a new wing being opened. And the best part of the delight? To be literally amazed at the tenants that Frasers has managed to secure. I am really starting to like it alot. It has got Seoul Garden now, Starbucks is back (but damn you for rationing power), Breeks Cafe, Manhattan Fish Market, a library, Xin Wang (I am going to be honoured as lifelong member soon), Sakae Sushi and guess what? Party World is coming! Can you exclaim WOW? Yes!
I also spotted a water themed playground on the open rooftop while i was waiting for the train across the road. Fantastic.
To those people who stay in woodlands. you all don't haolian okay. now we got northpoint liao~
