some developments in my life

Gotten down to business

For this hols, i got myself an exciting job. I've been working Pulau Bukom for a company that supports Shell's refinery operations. My first 'overseas' assignment to date, this is my most highly paid temporary assignment to date, allowing me to pocket $8/hr. But that's because noone in their right mind would want to bother themselves to maroon themselves on an ilosated island and queue up for a ferry just to get to work. Shown above is my pass. I think i look quite farnee in the photo.

Here are some photos to show you how Pulau Bukom looks like. Frankly, it's fascinating because there's no other place like this in Singapore. My impression of Bukom is of a tiny fascist state that is run by a cummunist regime. Ugly and drab structures litter the landscape and everyone walks around in coveralls. There are draconian measures which threatens to "exile" you for a week if you dare walk out of the designated walkways and onto the grass patch. I half expect Kim Jong Il's motorcade to roll by any moment.

Walking on the same lonely road after OT. The island is quite peaceful and quiet after nightfall.

My workplace which is housed in a cosy container that is kept spick and span by an energetic auntie that stays in Ghim Moh. lol

Every morning while I am waiting for the ferry, i gaze across the harbour and this is what i see...

Looking out of the window of the ferry, this is what i see.

Spectacle-less Contact lens-less for good

I am heading for a LASIK operation at TTSH on this coming Wed. The surgeon that is operating on me is an Associate Prof. Woah.

After 5 years

Yesterday was the last time I drove our G9 corolla after it had faithfully served us for 5 years. It is certainly eye-misting for it is the very first car i drove after i got my driving license. It's happy revving nature, soft wallowing suspension and firm cleaver brakes made driving the "hipporolla" such a joy.

*Salute.

The new G10 Altis that succeeded the G9 certainly has some big shoes to fill and huge expectations to meet. So far it has impressed but we shall see.
