I am now currently in the 3rd week of my job which saw me employed by a local IT distributor as a Customer Service Officer handling RMA (Return of Material Authorisation) requests. A glamorous title isn't it? But that's the hilarous world as we know it. What was once acknowledged by me to be a privileged term of address, "sir" could now be any tom, dick or harry who walks into your typical fast food outlet.
I am not really making any grouses about my job by the way. Come to think of it, the job search was smooth. I got myself a pretty attractive recruiting agent, Angeline. It's hard to forget that she once said, "Hmmmm, you're a 86er? Oh man, what a pity...I'm a 84er" Everybody together now *Awwwww
That's not the last of things to come. My job environment is an all-female one too.
' - ' V...
I am sure Jasper has heard about the "28 year old lady" from Accounts. Well, too bad I ain't working in Hollywood. I've heard from my colleagues in the RMA Dept that she is rather scandalous behaviour-wise haha. Well Phoebe does come across as being weird to me sometimes but I thought that it was all a deliberate act to hide her hardships. If I'm not mistaken, she started working at the age of 14 in order to supplement the family income after her father passed away suddenly. Even now, she takes on a secondary job as a waitress in a pub during the weekends. In that kind of seedy environment and with all that frivolous going-ons, it's not hard to imagine the kind of tempetuous life that she had to lead for the past 14 years or so.
Anyway, my colleagues have warned me against becoming too friendly with her for she's known to be unable to keep her distance. Well, I am just trying to build up a healthy working relationship with everyone in the company. You will never know when you need that person's very help. Sounds like a fair mitigating defence on my part here. No?
The usual slew of issues associated with office politics aside, work has been brisk and fair. Previously a nagging problem, passing time in the office has become almost effortless. Maybe time really does fly when you do feel that you are fairly paid your bucks. My clean streak has asserted itself here as it always will. My Department's office is cramped but my itchy hands has resulted in really some pleasant reorganisation, much cleaner air as well as landed some praises from my colleagues.
As I type, I really feel that I am settling into the routine of my work. Wake up at 0720hrs each day. Wash up and board the train for work, Eyes roving around as usual for some eye candies- quite a few :D , doze around a bit and exchange some eye signals with some pretty lass, disembark, visit the nearby Waterloo temple where I have my daily prayers and then I reach the office sharp at 0930hrs.
Breakfast is amazingly cheap at $1.80 for a packet of fried beehoon and a cup of barley drink. It's a good thing the three of us in the RMA Dept can get along well. Have I mentioned that all 3 of us have names that start with E? Eric, Emily and Elizabeth? Haha, that was sure a good way to break the ice on the very first day.
