Another milestone

I finally parted ways with my ghoulish nails. Had to... If not, i wouldn't be able to pick up and apply my lens safely. After visiting all the opticians available in Causeway point on Saturday, i contemplated giving up on contact lens after i drew a blank. Myabe they thought i will be paying them in Monopoly notes. One particular shop even had the decency to ask me to come back another day to get my lens as well as to learn how to handle my lens. The final straw came when a snobbish fella said i had to purchase 3 pairs of contact lens upfront.

Hello? Is this the way you conduct business?? I am trying out for a practical reason. If contact lens are unsuitable for me, then it will be easy for me to ease back to spectacles. Not when you ask me to fork out nearly a hundred dollars upfront. And their attitude just reeks big time. Just because i spoke politely doesn't mean i gave you a blank cheque in terms of manners. They were literally climbing over my head, swinging like monkeys at my hair fringes. Service as a engine of growth, you ask me? Why don't we start believing that Singapore can actually play in the next World Cup? O_O

Thankfully my 2nd attempt at trying contact lens didn't end up a fiasco on Sunday. Wary of malls now, i chose to patronise my family optician in Chong Pang. Now don't go visualising a red carpet being laid out before my feet or something. But i would say that the service rendered was much much better. The optician took a reading of my myopia, measured my eye apertures and checked for astigmatism - in less than 10 minutes. Before long, i was putting on my first contact lens. It was weird, to admit... for me to apply a foreign body on my cornea. I fumbled a bit at first but it went on well. For some inscrutable reason, my right eye presented a harder challenge than my left.

But like the first moment when my wireless internet connection went through, the word that came was...Magic! But i didn't go hysterical or danced around the shop like a lepreuchaun or something in case you thought i whipped out my usual strange antics. I still need some getting used to. Somehow, my vision isn't as sharp as it does with my trusty spectacles. But i hope that this is only my weird thinking at work. But... but... i must admit that i look a bit old without my spectacles. I can't really describe my looks now. People used to say i exude an erudite aura as a bespectacled boy. I wonder if my looks still smacks of intellect...

Let's see how it goes...
