A most unfortunate incident

Consider the following sentence,

"The bnown fox iump acioss the rwver"

If you were reading this in a very fast manner, there is a good chance that you might have interpreted it as,

"The Brown fox jumped across the river"

It may seem absurd but as long as the first and the last letter as well as the total number of letters are the same, the brain will automatically override any anomaly and interpret as per normal. It's only under close scrutiny that the errors are exposed.

Talk about assumption...

Today was supposed to be the day when i would take my driving lesson at night as i have done for quite some time. Due to the late timing of my unit's last parade, i often schedule my lesson at the 1950hrs-2130hrs timeslot. I thought today was no exception... Sigh...

And for a change, i decided to stroll around a bit in Lot 1 before heading down to BBDC thinking it was still early. I should have known that the feeling of unease i had during the stroll was my instincts warning me. I should have ...

So imagine the shock i had when i arrived at 1920hrs to find out that my slot today was supposed to be 1800hrs-1930hrs. I wasn't prepared to find out that i was actually late. I actually uttered "What the devil" so loudly that everyone turned to have a look at me. As if the devil was really next to me then. Still reeling from my shock, I had to search for my instructor whom i imagined to have already transformed to a mothball, considering the amount of cobwebs that would have grown onto him from the wait.

And i thought i saw a stack of money fly away into the skies. Sob! What a waste... Nevertheless, i did drive for 20 minutes and passed one subject, while my mind was endlessly chanting" what the devil, what the devil..." I went to countercheck my account booking details after my lesson (if you still allow me to count that one) and holy smoke! The timing for that ill-fated slot flashed as 1800hrs-1940hrs!! But i am very sure that i selected the 1950hrs-2130hrs slot! i just sense that there's something wrong but i am unable to pinpoint it precisely. In the meantime however, i think i would be content with kicking my own ass...

Oh what the devil!!
