An ill fated trip of a cockroach
The cockroach roused itself from deep slumber just as dawn broke. The little vermin shuffled its hardened front wings peculiarly in a human-like fashion, as if it was stretching. The universally-loathed creature then trained its incredibly repulsive compound eyes around . There was no one. Apparently the humans were still cuddled in sleep.
Then out of a sudden, the cockroach heard a roar emanating from the fifth floor. It was deafening. "Keluar Baris!" Before the arthropod could do anything, it felt the entire building shake twice followed by a monstrous cry matching the intensity of the first. "
Signals!"
The shouts and the shakings took the cockroach by utter surprise. What was that? Was that some kind of a colossal monster or did all Arthropodal hells broke loose? "Oh my cockroachy god! I got to find a safe place to tide out this absurd moment..." So, the cockroach began scurrying like nobody's business. Its hairy legs moved with ferocity for a very long time. All the while in its great escapade, the cockroach continually nudge its greaty shaggy head around to check for any possible adversary. Thankfully, there was none.
The fugitive soon found itself in front of a door. From the thousands of its individual eye facets, the cockroach barely made out the words" Commanding Officer" emblazoned on that door. Without giving much thought to the potential danger that might lurk within, the cockroach scampered underneath the narrow space beneath that gigantic door.
The room was brightly lit. In fact, it was so bright that the compound eyes of the insect flinched. It was dazzled and hence, it remained stationary for a moment or two. Unbeknownst to that poor insect, there was actually someone in the room. Mortal danger was lurking so near yet the cockroach remained unsuspecting. The vermin soon regain its consciousness and began surveying its new suroundings with great interest and intent.
The cockroach soon registered in its primitive brain that there was some sort of a block looming ahead of it. In the human context, it was known as the common desk. However owing to the limited angle of view of its compound eyes, the cockroach couldn't see anything else beyond the "Block".
Sadly for the cockroach, there was someone residing behind the block a.k.a the desk and he had already seen the insect and was readying for action. His eyes glistered momentarily with a confident glint and the corner of his mouth creased upwards in a unmistakeable smile. It was the smile of death. The Grim Reaper has arrived, yet the poor Arthropod was still motionless, a clear sitting duck. The green fatigue worn by the human creased as the latter reached stealthily for a generously thick section of newspaper. He rolled the newspaper with equal stealth and dexterity.
He crept up from his comfortable chair and slowly approached the still unsuspecting victim. At the same time, the compound eyes of the cockroach registered a moving figure and alarm bells went off in the critter. Alas! It was too late. In its last living moments, it experienced what it thought was a solar eclipse as the outlying areas around it darkened without warning. Just before the last bit of light was snuffed out, the vermin saw a thin patch of cloth sewn onto the green fatigue of its assailant. Time seemed to have frozen as the cockroach made out the embroidered letters of "J H TAN". This was followed by a deafening smack. *Pow
The lone figure took a lingering gaze at his latest victim. Apparently the biblical victory of David against Goliath was a freak incident.
