The creation of vile creation was however, unknown to both Inuyasha and Kikyo. In their blossoming romance, Kikyo offered Inuyasha the Shikon so as to allow him to transform him into a full human being and at the same time destroying the Shikon. Alas, the perfect plan was thwarted...
While waiting for Inuyasha, Kikyo was critically ambushed by Naraku who posed incognito as Inuyasha. Naturally, a seething Kikyo confronted a puzzled Inuyasha and sealed him into a semi-death state using her magical arrows without much ado. Tragically, Kikyo succumbed to her injuries which were exacerbated by her anger and the Shikon was cremated with her.
For 50 years, Inuyasha slept blissfully until a schoolgirl named Kagome (reincarnated form of Kikyo) emerged from a time tunnel from the modern time and awakened him.
