Fellow August Twenty-niner...

Do you remember those key chains that Cards N Such and like-minded queasy shops sold in the past? All 365 versions with everyone of them representing a specific day. Each of them are filled with supposed characteristics inherent to people born on that particular day but something on these keychains that interested me more was the feature at the back- famous celebrities born on your birthday...

Was it the cheap thrill generated when i found out which famous personality was born on my birthday? Or is there more to it? Gradually, I somehow came to a conclusion that people born on the same day do have certain things in common. Someone who somehow led me to think that way is Urong...

Not that he had an active role in convincing me but it was in a very subtle manner... You see, two highly acclaimed fellow August Twenty-niners happen to be Michael Jackson and Leslie Cheung, both of whom possess enough eccentricity to stake equal claims to be lauded as Mr Oddball. Urong used to pass casual remarks e.g. you are as vain as MJ or your perfectionist streak is bizzarely similiar to Leslie's...

Initially i dismissed them as off-the-cuff remarks... But as i gave more thought to it, i realised that this wild link might be valid, to my chagrin... I do admit that i'm vain to the point of obsession as described by Urong and sometimes pursuing perfectionism to the point of exasperation. These apparent problems however pale in comparison to a nagging doubt in my mind- am i following in their footsteps?
