Deja Vu

I guess everyone has experienced Deja Vu at some point of their lives. Is it just a blood rush that causes you to convulse with disorder? Resulting from a violent surge of recollections, stimulated by reasons as odd as the effect itself.

I was walking towards Boon Keng Station with the rest of the gang from Tara's house when it hit, without any warning.

Yes, it was dark and i was orientated without any doubts. But it was Boon Keng where she lives. 2 years ago, i used to take the first train from Yishun all the way to Boon Keng so i can accompany her to school every morning. The headiness of the early risings back then came back- my head swelled with pain. But i'm sober as can be despite the alcohol intake earlier... Then, double vision struck. One moment i was in reality walking with the rest of the gang morosely, the next i was walking with her in the chilly morning.

I spent about 20 minutes composing myself till the train arrived. As the automatic door slid open and passengers poured out, i wondered if God would play the ultimate trick on me-I filed in silently while some carriages away, she alighted in the opposite direction at the exact moment. My head throbbed at the thought of this. It was enough...

Serendipity leapt away in the dark of the night and i sank into uncharted depths of melancholy.
